  • This wonderful Icon portrays Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus carrying Jesus Christ's Shrouded Body to His Stone Tomb
  •  According to the Gospel Accounts, Jesus was buried in a Tomb which originally belonged to Joseph of Arimathea, a wealthy man who, believing Jesus was the Messiah, offered his own sepulcher for the Burial of Jesus. According to Christian Tradition, the Tomb of Jesus is located in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
  • The Church of the Holy Sepulchre is a Church in the Christian Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem. It contains, according to Traditions dating back to the 4th Century, the two Holiest Sites in Christianity: the Site where Jesus was Crucified,at a place known as Calvary (or Golgotha), and Jesus's Empty Tomb, where He is believed by Christians to have been buried and resurrected.
  • Each panel is individually hand-painted on solid wood, showing honest age and craftsmanship. The style, materials, and construction are consistent with late 20th century Ethiopian workshop icons, created for devotional and decorative use.
