  • Ewe Aklama Ada Altar Fetish Figure, Ghana
  • Adan Voodoo Altar Fetish
  • Light-weighted wood with a patina of Kaolin.
  • This “Aklama” fetish is a ritual object of the voodoo cult, used by the Ewe, who speak the Adangbe/Ada language from Ghana, and who live near the Togolese border.
  • These Ade sculptures embody the diverse deities associated with hunting, also common to the Yoruba and to the Ewe.
  • Regarding their use, these objects are found on specific altars, but we have already seen pictures illustrating them grouped in a basket and dressed with a piece of cloth, like the Vinavi of the Ewe.
